about
Art, design and creativity has always been part of my life. I qualified as a commercial artist in 1990 and throughout my career have worked in various creative industries. I have found fine furniture making to be the most rewarding art form in which to express my talents. I have a deep appreciation of those who have truly mastered a hand skill; be it drawing, painting, calligraphy or making.
my studio workshop
I work from a purpose made 6m x 3m studio workshop at my home in the South of England. In my garage I have a bandsaw, a planer-thicknesser and a few bench-top machines, but it is in my workshop where I spend most of my time, designing, making, and filming. It is the tranquility, precision and challenge of mastering the use of hand tools that most inspires and excites me. Through my courses, both physical and online, I hope to pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm to all. Using hand tools to make fine furniture is a rewarding pastime for the amateur woodworker. It gives the maker a connection to their work that no power tool can achieve.
